Then, carefully pull out the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook on the key-ring. Be sure to wear rubber gloves to protect the clips or electronic contact surfaces.

After the battery has been removed, place the new one into its socket. Make sure that the positive end of the battery is facing upwards and the clips are all seated. Slide the cover downwards towards the key-ring section until it becomes loose, and it falls off. Then, remove the cover to reveal the hidden mechanical key blade. This can be used to unlock your car by the driver's side doors in the event that the key fob battery is dead or gone.
