Best Automatic Vacuum For Carpet Cleaning
There are several robot vacuums on the market that can clean your carpets. iLife V3S pro is an excellent model with superior obstacle avoidance, and is able to traverse rugs and stairs that other robots can't get on.
It also did well in CR's cleaning tests, and has a self emptying station. Other alternatives that do a great job on carpets as well as hard floors are the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO T8 Omni.
iLife V3S pro
The V3s Pro was the least expensive robot that we test. However, it did well in suction tests. It has a long running time and has a number of intelligent features. For example, cliff sensors prevent the device from falling, or scratching furniture legs. It also has an area map that indicates areas that don't require to be cleaned. This saves time and money by avoiding unnecessary cleaning.
The V3S Pro excelled on the test for pet hair, capturing all of it without tangled brushes or left-over debris. This makes it a great choice for pet owners who have carpets and hard surfaces. It also performed well in the test for dirt and crumbs and picked up the dust and crumbs we deposited on the flooring without a problem. It also performed well in the tests of obstacle. It was able to navigate around all the furniture and power cables we placed in its way.
It has a small footprint which makes it easy to move around. It has a remote control that's simple to use and understand using just one button, as opposed to competitors' multiple buttons. This is a nice option for those looking for an easier-to-use model. It does lack some more advanced features, such as touchscreen control and a screen that tells you what it has to
do robotic vacuums work on carpet next (like empty the bin or charge), but this is a rare exception rather than the norm.
In our laboratory tests, the V3S Pro completed our cleaning runs on average in one hour and 31 minutes. This is more than 9 minutes quicker than the iRobot Roomba i4+ EVO however it is lagging behind the Eufy RoboVac11S' average of 1:18 and the Shark Ion R85's 1:01. The V3S Pro lacks a brush roll, instead relying on two side brushes that spin to move debris into the three-inch wide opening at the bottom of the device. It's less effective than nothing, but it's still better than nothing.
Roomba I4+ EVO
The current price is $2 less than its previous record price The Roomba i4+ EVO is a mid-range robot vacuum from iRobot that provides more features than the basic models. It has a large dirt bin and can be controlled remotely using the iRobot HOME app, which is compatible with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri for voice control. It also has physical controls, including a Dual Virtual Barrier device that lets you mark areas that the robot shouldn't go to protect things like furniture or pet bowls.
Its intelligent mapping and room-by-room navigation are more efficient than the semi-random navigating system used by many other robots which allows it to cover more area for cleaning than competitors do. The high-performance filters stop dust and other allergens from getting back into the air during cleaning, which is a boon for allergy sufferers.
The Roomba EVO i4+ was among our top-performing vacuums when it was able to remove coffee grounds and crumbs off carpets with a medium pile. The cleaning performance on unfinished floors isn't great, but it is a pro at removing debris from corners and under furniture. It was adept at navigating the transitions between surfaces and did not get stuck on our power cords or other objects.
Another excellent feature that the i4+ EVO has that most competing models don't is its i-series Clean Base self-emptying dock, which discharges the device's internal dustbin into an enormous bagged bin inside the charging station. This will save you time and effort by letting you avoid emptying the internal dustbin every day.
Self-emptying is a great feature to reduce maintenance requirements and reduces the amount of times you have to purchase replacement bags. The HEPA-style filters that iRobot offers that are standard on the i4+ EVO aid in helping to decrease the frequency with which you'll need to purchase bags for replacement.
The i4+ is more expensive than the Roomba S9 which is better built, more durable and offers better performance on carpeted floors that are not bare as well as high and low pile carpeting. The Roomba S9 is also compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa, making it possible to start cleaning cycles with your voice.
Roborock Q5+
The Q5+ is a budget robot with an impressive set of features, including 2700Pa suction power. Its PreciSense Precision LiDAR tech creates 3D maps of rooms, which allow it to navigate and avoid obstacles. The app comes with useful features, allowing you to make your own cleaning routines and no-go zones. It also allows for rapid mapping, which can help to cover a large area quickly and efficiently.
It's also possible to adjust the brushroll height of the robot based on the type of floor and the surface. This is a nice feature. In our tests it did a decent job of cleaning up debris on hard floors. It had some difficulty on carpets, however. The robot vacuumed the dust but left streaks. This is a common problem with robot vacuums. They are effective on hard surfaces, but not as expected on
carpet vacuum robot.
This issue isn't a issue for the majority of people. The Q5+ is a good choice for those who use their robot primarily to clean carpets. It comes with a variety of clever features that overcome this flaw. For instance, it has the 'Quiet' mode with low power that conserves battery life when it encounters light debris and an initial 'Balanced' setting that is great for hard surfaces but may be slowed down by small amounts of dust and pet hair on carpets and the highly-powered 'Max' mode that is ideal for heavy debris and intense cleaning of
carpet cleaner vacuum up. The app also lets you set specific times for the robot's operation -- an excellent feature that many other robots don't have and it has a multi-story memory which allows it to remember the different areas of your home, even if you move furniture around.
Another nice bonus is that the Roborock is relatively easy to maintain. Its auto-emptying dustbin can hold a good amount of debris and stays at the bottom of its charging station once completely empty, meaning you'll need empty it less often than the majority of robotic vacuums. The only downside is that the bundled self-emptying dock Pure comes in two pieces and requires a screwdriver to assemble it, but it should be fairly simple for most users.
Eufy RoboVac 11S Max
The 11S Max is a great robot vacuum for those who are new to the field and technophobes seeking to perform a light cleaning every day. It will clean your floors just as well as other models that cost more. The BoostIQ feature also boosts the power when it spots dirty floors. This feature is fantastic however, it can reduce the life of batteries and sound output. (It's more like an annoying increase in volume than an ear-splitting one.) If you use this model in Max mode you'll have about 60 minutes of cleaning time instead of the 100 that you'd expect in normal mode.
It is a great choice for carpets that are hard, medium-pile or even on floors and doesn't have problems with transitions and edges that are raised. It is also very silent - it doesn't pick up the sound of television or music when it's cleaning. It's simple to set this robot to clean each day. Press the button at the top to begin the unit, then use the remote control to set the time.
It has a tough time with carpets with low pile and its tiny compartment is easily clogged with hair. The brushes on the back are smaller than the ones found in other robot vacuums, and I've had them get tangled in my own long hair several times. The 11S Max is a little slower than some of its rivals, and is not as precise in laying out an area plan.
