Choose a stroller which can fold in one step, and easily put into your car. You might also want lightweight designs that are easy to navigate and manoeuvre especially when you have busy streets to traverse.
Side-by-Side
This is the most popular double pushchair. It is usually able to accommodate two children side by side. They're generally bigger than single pushchairs. This makes them less agile on footpaths. It is also difficult to maneuver between kerbs when a car seat is attached. However, the extra width can mean that they're usually more comfortable to maneuver through doorways and are distributed more evenly making them more comfortable on your back.
Many models are able to be used as twin prams, and can take a carrycot, or two car seats. Some models can be converted into a single mode with the basket (like the Cybex Venus).
The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a excellent illustration of this. In Twin Mode, you can put the rear seat next to the carrycot. This creates a fully enclosed space for twins and is perfect for infants. This pram also comes with a couple of really neat accessories, including newborn cocoons that can be attached to the front or back (for twin-facing prams) or facing inwards (for a standard single). It's not as light as other options but it is very well thought out.
Lightweight
Cybex is known for its ingenuity and this pushchair converts to a single is no exception. Its clever frame expands widthways to accommodate a second seat and can be used it as a twin from birth by incorporating the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) which create enclosed lie-flat spaces for babies. The large shopping basket that is behind the seat can be used in mono mode with just one child. And it has front and rear suspension to tackle bumps and uneven surfaces a little more easily. Tandem
If you plan to have twins, you'll require a pushchair that is tandem. This allows both children to sit together and see each one another. They are ideal for activities such as visiting the zoo as the children will be able to gaze at all the animals together. They're also perfect for My Babiie Stroller (

toddler stroller and the other on their child since they can look at both of them simultaneously.
Some tandem pushchairs provide ultra versatility as they can change back to single mode. This is particularly beneficial when you are planning to have more children than two (or in the event that your child who is the oldest isn't a need for the buggy anymore). This means that you won't have an empty pushchair to put away and can be expensive.
The Cybex Venus, for example, can be used either in double or mono mode. Its frame can expand to allow for an additional seat. This isn't the lightest of pushchairs, however it comes with an enormous shopping basket that sits behind the front seat when in double mode (and in the back of the seat in mono mode). The seats can be positioned so that they face each other, or one can be set higher, so that it can look at the other and see what they're up to.
Other double tandem pushchairs like the Joolz Geo 3 can seat one on top of the other, or side-by-side. The sleek,
compact pushchair frame makes it easier to navigate through doorways and supermarket aisles. Some models can also be used on rough terrain or for a jogging walk thanks to their large rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
A tandem pushchair could also be used to carry two carrycots, or a car and buggy seat. You can save money by creating an overall travel system from the beginning and not making separate purchases. Keep in mind that tandems are more heavy and longer and may appear less stable when bumping up the kerbs or going over uneven surfaces. These pushchairs also need to be dismantled for fitting into cars.
