If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is important that it is not too long.

They feature a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
