A pram newborn is a stroller for newborns and babies. It is a sturdy, deep carrycot with soft, safe walls.
A pram is typically equipped with a bassinet, but it can be converted into a stroller seat once baby is ready.
Safety
Newborns are extremely fragile and need to be protected as much as is possible. Buying a pram or stroller equipped with safety features will ensure that your baby is comfortable and secure while traveling. A stroller or pram must have a working break, a 5-point harness (2 shoulder straps with two waist straps and a crotch belt) and a wrist tether for the person driving it. Make sure the pram you select is in compliance with these requirements.
Find a stroller that allows your baby to ride in the recommended lying-flat position. This position is supportive for your baby and helps prevent a dangerous curve in their spine that can lead to spinal problems. By keeping the airways open, it reduces the chance of SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams that are used from birth will come with the seat unit, which will recline into a lie-flat pram mode for younger babies and then transform into a pushchair unit for older children.
The suspension of the pram will determine how smooth it runs. A pram with a lot of spring suspension will be more expensive however it is worth the extra cost in the event that you plan to use your pram each day for a few years or longer.
Always read the instructions and read the warning labels on your stroller or pram. When not in use, place your stroller in a safe area away from potential dangers like bicycles, traffic or other people. It is recommended to take any bags or other items off the handles, as they could cause your baby to get trapped or even suffocate.
Even if your baby is asleep, it's not an ideal idea to leave a pram or stroller unattended. They could wriggle into the stroller and become stuck, or roll away and cause injury. It is also not recommended to hang bags or other items from the handles because they may fall and hit your baby in the head.
Comfort
Having the option of lie flat seating is a must for newborns, as it promotes better back and lung development. A lot of prams come with a cocoon or carrycot that creates a cosy, nest-like environment for your baby and can be easily removed from the frame. Some seats, such as the bucket-style seat on the egg2, don't recline completely flat, but they provide an enjoyable ride for your child.
Some prams come with a separate seat or bassinet for the newborn. This allows you to effortlessly switch between sleeping and sitting positions depending on what your baby needs. This is often described as a "

Look for a pram with two shoulder straps (ideally cushioned) and a functional five-point safety harness that fits your child's body safely. Be sure that there aren't any gaps or areas that are loose in which fingers can get caught and that the buckles are comfortable to use, particularly for older children. It's also worth considering whether you'd like a
running pram that faces the parent or not - it's ideal to watch your child and helping children feel secure with the familiarity of their parents.
