World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.
For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The
item upgrades must be at least upgraded to blue level before a component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix changing the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.
The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their equipment even in the event that they don't know what will be improved after a reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a high chance that the item could become obsolete or even break when it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items to double or even eliminate chances of failure, and a few upgrades that give an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as you can.
In the final game you'll find that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as also a few rare glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that will boost a particular set of stat nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Using the Glyph will boost all the nodes that are connected to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For example an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, however, you may also want to think about placing them near crucial damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each
item level upgrade level requires a different amount of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets upgraded.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When an individual player improves a piece of equipment it will be replaced with a new item. The same armor can be transformed into the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback, as it can make the item more expensive if you do not need it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea however it shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as a dolphin). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by an increment of 10. This
item upgrader kit is highly valuable in PvP. A perfectly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of its unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currency to an
item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to go back to its original state, which will force the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained, such as crit chance damage to attack, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an
item upgrades is dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value. For instance an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero quality items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. The player will need to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost that are listed above.
