Ignition Cylinder Replacement
The ignition cylinder is the component of your Mazda that allows you to start your car using the use of a key. If your Mazda is not turning or you are unable to insert the key into the switch, you may require replacing the ignition cylinder.
Ignition cylinders fail more often than the keys, which tend to last longer. There isn't a pre-planned maintenance schedule for them, but you can make them last by keeping your key free of dust and avoiding excessive jiggling or shaking of the key.
To replace the ignition coil, you must remove any covers or trims that are blocking the way. Depending on the model, you may have to remove the cover for the steering wheel. It could be that your key fob's battery is low. In this instance the best thing to try is to reset your receiver. This will often restore the functionality. If this does not work, you will need to replace the batteries. To do this, you'll have to take the key off and then use a flathead screwdriver wrapped in tape to push the case open on one side.
