Best Roomba Vacuum Cleaner
This is a great choice to consider if you're seeking a basic robot cleaner without the advanced features of other models. It is capable of picking up pet hair, cat litter and Cheerios on hardwood floors and even sucked up sand during my tests.
It quickly maps rooms and provides solid obstacle avoidance. It can be controlled by hand using the remote included.

The s9+ robot vacuum is one of the
best buy irobot we've tested for cleaning hard floors and carpets. It has the strongest suction of any robotic cleaner available and does an excellent job of getting rid of pet hair. It can also be programmed to perform multiple passes or alter the suction level based on the size of the room, something we haven't yet seen on other models. Its app lets you modify how it works and even select the time it will start working so you can be in the room as it's working.
Smart mapping creates a detailed home map to assist the S9+ in navigating efficiently and determine routes. It can also self-empty so you don't have be around to assist. It is also able to recharge itself mid-clean. In our testing the s9+ was able to maneuver over obstacles such as tables and power cables easily and did not lose its charge or got stuck. It lacks the hazard-avoidance capabilities of newer models, and can become caught in tassels of rug and other obstructions it is unable to see.
Unlike most circular robots, the s9+ is flat-fronted and has an unsquared front, which helps it access corners better than rounded models. It's also quieter than the previous iRobot model we test and is less bulky than the Neato Botvac D7. It's not cheap, but it's an excellent value given the quality of its performance and the fact that you won't need to worry about emptying a dirty bin afterward. It's also usually available for sale during Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Amazon Prime Day.
2. iRobot Roomba j7+
The j7+ robotic vacuum is among the most intelligent vacuum cleaners available on the market. It's equipped with iRobot Genius technology that gives it the ability to detect obstacles and move around them, meaning that you don't need to worry about it smacking into furniture or walls. It also slows down when it is close to an object so that it can gently scrub edges. This is especially useful when you have pets who leave behind messes.
The j7+ is also able to mop and vacuum thanks to mopsitter. When it notices that you're on a surface that needs to be cleaned it switches to the standard cleaning mode and activates a little robot arm with a pad attached. It scrubbed the floor with a gentle touch and left my floors looking and feeling like they'd been properly cleaned.
When it's done mopping the j7+, it returns to its dock and recharges. It then drives back to the point where it left off and continues cleaning. It runs for about 85 minutes at my house with a plus or minus few minutes. It's not as impressive as the s9+ but still impressive for a robot which can vacuum and mop.
Like other iRobot cleaners, the j7+ identifies obstacles in its path and is able to avoid them. It also comes with what
irobot robot calls Cliff Detect technology, which prevents it from taking a tumble down the stairs. It's a great security feature for families with kids.
The j7+ comes with an onboard bin that is small, so it will need to go back to the dock and empty it frequently if you have an extensive home. The j7+ can be stored easily. The Clean Base, which comes with it, acts as charging dock, a separate dust bin, and an internal one that the j7+ can place dirt into.
3. Shark iQ
This robot can vacuum carpets and hard surfaces simultaneously. Matrix Clean Navigation is also included, which uses a grid matrix to cover the entire house. The vacuum automatically empties after every run. You can also check the battery's status and the actual life of the vacuum by looking at the two lights on the top. To empty the dirt receptacle just push a button that unlocks the bin. It holds up to a week's worth of garbage, and the process is easy enough to do from anywhere in the house.
This model is impressive on floors that are clean, but it struggles on floors with low pile. It also struggles to hold large amounts of debris when the dirt compartment gets filled. It's robust and long-lasting battery life. You can extend this by using the energy efficient Eco mode'.
The Shark IQ is compatible both with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant which means you can control it by speaking. The app lets you choose the name of your robot (mine's Sharky Shark), schedule and remotely start its runs, view your cleaning history and receive error notifications. You can create an outline of your home and set up zones that are not accessible to the public.
The Shark iQ is more expensive than the iRobot Roomba j7+, but it has superior mapping and app features and superior cleaning performance on all surface types. It also charges quicker and gets caught less often on tassels for the rug which can lower the cost of recurring repairs. This model is unable to stay away from furniture or pet bowls. You must use physical boundaries strips to keep the model from these items.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
With a sleek, premium design that is a perfect match for your home's decor The Roomba 694 is a great robot vacuum for those who want an easy to use set it and forget it device. It learns your cleaning habits to create a customized schedule and also works with Google Assistant or Alexa voice assistants to enable you to begin a clean with just the sound of your voice. It uses a full suite of sensors to help you navigate the obstacles that surround your home. A smart bumper softens the impact of hitting furniture legs or walls, while four "cliff" sensors along the sides and front let it know when it's close to a dropoff such as the stairs or balcony, and can back away from the edge.
This model is a fantastic option in the robot vacuums under $300 category. This model comes with a 3-stage cleaning system that includes a dual multi-surface brush to get rid of dirt from carpets or hard floors. A tool for edge-sweeping takes the care of edges and corners. The robot vacuum has a number of convenience features including Dirt Detect which spends more time cleaning areas that are heavily soiled. It can be programmed to clean at certain intervals, and it also comes with an app that allows remote control.
The iRobot Roomba 694 isn't as technologically advanced as the i7, which can self-empty its own dust bin but it lacks an integrated mapping system or the ability to create virtual boundary markers. It's still a bit more robust and incurs fewer recurring costs than the less expensive RoboVac G30, has a bigger dust bin, is charged more quickly, can maneuver around obstructions like electrical cords more easily, and performs better on bare floors and low-pile carpet than the iRobot Roomba 614.
5. Eufy 11s
The Eufy 11s is a compact, attractive robot vacuum that gives an excellent value for the money. It is able to remove pet hair efficiently and has a large dirt compartment and can run for a long time on just one charge. However, it's difficult to maintain and has some issues with navigation. It doesn't have an app companion and voice control, however it does have a user-friendly remote. It also doesn't send you a notification when the dust bin is full, so you'll have to check it frequently.
The eufy is superior to the Bobsweep Bob Pro in many ways, but it's not as efficient as the
irobot models Roomba 694 in many other ways. The iRobot is better-built, uses less components that require regular maintenance, features a HEPA filter that is longer lasting on a single charge and offers better performance on carpeted floors as well as carpets that have high and low piles. It also comes with a smarter navigation system that can navigate over obstacles and incorporate more advanced automation features, such as boundary strips.
While the eufy is a decent choice, I recommend the
iRobot Roomba 900 Series for the majority of users. The
irobot robot vacuum cleaner is better-built, easier to maintain, has a larger dustbin, and offers better performance on all surfaces types. It is also more efficient to recharge and has longer battery life.
The eufy robot is superior to the ILIFE a4s but not as good as high-end robots like the Roborock S7 maxV Ultra. The iRobot is better-built and has a bigger dust bin and has lower ongoing costs. It also has a more advanced automation capability, such as boundary stripes, and a navigation algorithm that is smarter. The iRobot also sucks up pet hair more efficiently and it's much easier to maintain than the Eufy.
