The uPVC/Composite handles are made from durable materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a robust design. The handles are inline and operate off the same spindle and screw fixings. They can be easily fitted to doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or
old aluminium window handles.
The handle can be adjusted and angled to fit the needs of all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors with smaller door frames where the cylinder is located further back. A shorter lever can be used for doors with latches that can be opened by the thumb on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles, inline or offset. They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes & variations.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes including
white window handles Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This gives the handle an outstanding performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.
All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with screws and a spindle that allow them to be fitted on an existing or new uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a bigger handle, which is often a benefit when
replacing a window handle a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with a spring, which solves the problem of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when not in use.
When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also referred to as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect in ensuring that you have the correct handles.
When you have the right PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are of a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you require for your doors. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a property. Also, the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are handed that allows you to put them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but can also be found on other types of door. The cylinder lock is operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This exposes pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock, and permit them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It depends on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For example, external doors require an extra secure cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders are available with extra features that can improve security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
A euro cylinder should be properly measured to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure with the lock in position, you can remove it. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, so it is important that it's not too long.
The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attack chances by forcing the cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This can deflect the attack, and ensure your door is secure.
Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is targeted by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is faster and more straightforward than opening multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can impede the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their resting position after use. The handles had no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. The addition of this simple element is among the best ways to correct this, and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, as these aren't always easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with sprung multipoint locks They will not work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will need to have a custom hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution for damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They have an elongated square that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.
