Size
The Joovy Kooper X2
off road double buggy stroller is a side-by side double stroller. It can hold two children up to 50lbs. Its seats are larger sized than those of other strollers with
lightweight double pushchair designs and the canopy has large SPF 50 sunshades that have windows that peek out. Other key features include cup holders with one parent and an enormous, self-standing basket that can accommodate up to 25 lbs; swing-away bars for children to get out and in their seats; and the front wheels that swivel lock to make it easier to maneuver on difficult
all terrain double stroller. This is a great choice for urban and suburban families. It is also newborn-ready with a double set that includes a wedgie to help you sleep in a lying-flat position.
Weight
The weight of a double buggies will determine its ability to push. A lighter buggy is easier to lift and transport, but may not have enough suspension to withstand bumps and uneven terrain.
Most double buggies have a maximum weight per seat and some have total frame maximums, so it's important to check the details of each model prior to making a buy. Some double buggies are able to be folded with seats removed, making them smaller and lighter. This is helpful if you are limited on storage space.
The tri-fold doubles tend to be the lightest, since only one hand is required to lift the bottom and back sections. They are also narrower than side by side buggies and are able to fit through most doors. The iCandy Geo 3 tri-fold double is one of most lightweight on the market. It can comfortably fit twins or a toddler and baby.
Tandem buggies are great for families that are growing because they start as a single stroller, but can be adapted to accommodate a second seat or car seat, or carrycot. Some, like the iCandy Orange offer over 30 different seating configurations, meaning they can adapt to your family up to a 3rd child. They are generally heavier than tri-fold doubles. However, they're generally easier to move across kerbs due to the weight being more evenly distributed.
Folding
The best
double buggy travel system buggies designed for small children fold up in minutes. Our Lab experts appreciate this feature because it lets them to fit the buggies into the back of their cars and save storage space when not in use. For example, the Joovy Kooper X2 has straps on each seat that can be pulled up and the whole thing folds down. it's a trifold that even our most senior testers could do with one hand.
The light Delta Children LX side by side is a great option for double buggie. Its lightweight weight is an advantage but it also has some great features: nice-sized pop-out canopies with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows swing-away bars that help little ones climb in and out of the seats; and reclining seats and leg rests for younger children.
Manoeuvrability
When picking a compact double stroller, it is important to consider its maneuverability. This includes how easy it is for both children to travel in the buggy. Some pushchairs, for instance the iCandy Orange with its 'cinema seating' (where the back seat is elevated) are better than others.
Buggies with narrow tandems can be excellent at this, as are side-by-side designs. However, they can be slightly longer overall, and therefore could be difficult to maneuver through doorways.
The UPPAbaby Vista 2
pushchair double is an excellent example, since it's a comparatively compact model that can accommodate two additional seats and - most importantly - a pillion board that can accommodate a third kid.
Other smaller, three-wheeled models, like the phil&teds Dot, are also extremely agile. This is particularly the case with its clever "dot kit" which transforms it into an inline buggie. It has two different seating arrangements for children of different age groups and the front seat can be rotated so that it faces the parents to provide an intimate bonding experience. It also has a great storage basket and is super-easy to fold. A great choice for growing families!
Comfort
With narrow tandem strollers, or versatile side-by-side buggies parents can watch both children at the park, grocery store or wherever else. These lightweight doubles can hold two children up to 50 lbs per seat and come with generous, pop-out canopies that extend enough to provide real shade with window windows that can be seen from a distance and padded legs rests for the little ones to kick back and relax. They also have convenient reversible seatback cup holders and one cup holder for parents and a large underseat basket.
