Types of UPVC Door Handles

Lever/Lever
A lever is a rigid bar that is pivotally positioned around a point (known as a the fulcrum). When you apply a force to the end of the lever it tends to rotate the fulcrum in the direction of the force applied. This rotation multiplies your force and allows you to lift or move objects that would otherwise require more force to lift.
The distance between the fulcrum to the point where you apply the force determines how far the lever is able to move. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The more the lever is extended more, the greater the mechanical benefit. You can calculate the mechanical advantage by dividing distance from fulcrum point to the place where you are applying force by distance between the fulcrum's point and the end of lever.
Levers also have various effects depending on how the forces are applied. For example, a class 2 lever tends to rotate in the opposite direction as the force of effort is applied (like a T-totter). The forces generated when you push on the handle of a front door can result in rotational effects similar to these.
However, levers don't create energy. They just multiply the force you exert by converting a small amount of effort across a large distance into a greater amount of force applied over a smaller distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and transport massive amounts of cargo. This is also the reason behind the levers that are found in many everyday tools, such as crowbars, fishing rods claws for hammers and even your legs when you sit on the hand brake of your vehicle.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles, feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. Lever pad handles are available in a variety of finishes & designs and can be used on a variety of materials such as UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for the outside and the interior doors, with spindles and screws included. They are available in both unhanded and handed versions to accommodate different types of users.
These locks can be used to replace the existing doors made of upvc. They are typically operated by lifting the levers to throw out all of the multipoint locks, and turning the key to close or unlock. They provide a bit more security than the standard lever handles for doors, as the locking can only be performed through the inside with the key.
They are not as safe as a cylinder lock, but they are an affordable way to provide extra security to your home. The only downside is that they do not offer the same level of protection as a cylinder lock, and therefore don't block access to your home if the door is left open.

These are usually designed to work with the 92mm lock, or a replacement model called a Paddock Lock. They will feature a 92mm cylinder center on the inside and 62mm on the exterior and be fitted with 2 spindle followers. Some are supplied with the backplate in place, while others can be removed to accommodate different fixing centers.
Lever/Snib
Lever latches, the simplest of all door handles, are used. Pushing down on the lever triggers a simple latch mechanism inside to keep the door shut, and can be locked with keys. Some lever privacy

A snib button can be very beneficial, especially for homes where it's important to ensure privacy or security. If your spouse is expected to arrive home late from work, you can utilize the snib button to ensure that they won't be able to enter until they're ready to come in. This kind of handle can also be put in on doors inside, such as those in bedrooms where you want to limit access from outside.
Snib buttons can cause problems in certain situations, particularly when you have old locks and doors that are warped. If the snib is used in error or by a person who isn't used to it, the door could slam shut and lock you out. You can usually get in by knocking on the door frame or the letterbox. However this isn't a good idea.

Lever/Moveable Pad
This is a very popular handle design for front doors that has the benefit of keeping the door from being opened from outside without keys if the sash lock door handles (
sources) isn't deadlocked. This is achieved by using a 'pad-shaped' external handle that locks into the gap between the handle and lock case.
This kind of handle is designed for uPVC doors fitted with multipoint locks that operate using split spindle operations. This kind of operation requires that the lever handle and external pad handle are both fitted to the same lock case. This can be a simple switch from the current uPVC handles, but it could also require changing the lock case or even a new set of handle furniture to allow for this added functionality.
