Joseph is a more natural frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much needed boost.
The band released Mindfields in 1999 and goes on a massive worldwide tour. After a few months in Europe they come to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a short hiatus, Toto resumes their recording and releases their first live album, Absolutely Live in 1993. The album features a cover of Weezer's hit song Hash Pipe as a response to the band's coverage of Africa on their recent tour. Toto's touring group includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest along with keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.
