Toto is the company that manufactures the elegant Japanese toilets, also known as Washlets. These toilets feature a heated seat, deodorizer and bidet, in addition to other amenities.
Before forming Toto the members of the group did session work for Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts,[4] Boz Scaggs, and Sonny and Cher. [5] Guitarist Steve Lukather was the band's lead singer.
About Toto
The band Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also well-known studio musicians who worked with Boz Scaggs at the time) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. The group took their name from a Latin word that means "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every musical style.
The third album by Toto, Turn Back, was a failure in 1981. However they came back with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two hit songs, including the title song and Roseanna. The album and tour made them a household brand all over the world.
After a hiatus of a couple of years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in the year 1986. It's a change from the ballads of their previous albums and also includes some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.
During the recording of the band's fifth album the band loses their manager and are faced with financial difficulties. They decide to record a new album and change their name to an alternative producer. Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, replaces Fergie Frederiksen as lead vocalist. Joseph is a more natural frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much-needed boost.
In 1999, the band releases Mindfields and begin an extensive worldwide tour. After a few months in Europe they head to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief break, Toto resumes recording and begins recording their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band's cover of their hit Africa during a recent tour. Toto's touring band is rounded out by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.

The album was a return to form for the group and the tour was accompanied it with sold-out shows across North America and Europe. The reunion of Toto gathered momentum after the return of bassist Shem Von Schroeck and guitarist Steve Lukather.
