In our tests, this vacuum built an editable floor map in big and small rooms, with high accuracy. It also picked up spills well and performed effectively in "No-Go" zones we set.
1. Neato Botvac D4
If you want the convenience of a robot vacuum without having to make many sacrifices in terms of performance, then this Neato is a good option. The D4 offers an excellent mapping and navigation feature as well as smart home integration and an easy-to-use app and all at an affordable price that won't blow your budget.
To set up this bot, you must plug it into its base and connect it to your Wi-Fi network at home. The Neato app will guide you through the initial configuration (linking the D4 to Wi-Fi and the name of it and so on, etc.). Once the D4 is fully charged it's time to begin a cleaning process.
Once you've got your D4 operating, you can make use of the app to set up an automatic schedule or manually begin cleaning whenever you want. The 980 is the most advanced of our top choices. It has a HEPA-filter that is able to capture dust particles and allergens to improve air quality inside your home. It also supports a wide variety of floor surfaces including tile and hardwood.
One of the most prominent characteristics of the 980 is its top-mounted camera and SLAM sensor which enable it to navigate more effectively than other Roombas, even in tight spaces like hallways and corners. iRobot calls this technology iAdapt 2.0, and it makes use of snapshots taken by the camera to draw an internal map. This was not the most advanced or biggest that we tested, however it was effective and a welcome addition. The 980 can also be controlled with voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. It can take a while to send an instruction.
The Roomba 980 is also able to automatically return to its base station after it's finished with its cleaning task, ensuring it's always ready for the next adventure. This feature is exclusive to the 980 and makes the robot more practical.
3. iRobot 985
iRobot Roomba was designed by iRobot to make your floors more beautiful, cleaner and more powerful thanks to its powerful cleaning system, intelligent navigation, and smart integration with other iRobot devices. Its patented dirt-detection system alerts you when areas require extra attention. Smart sensors help keep it clear of dangerous obstacles and stairs. It will also recharge itself automatically and continues cleaning until the job is done. Its intelligent mapping and vSLAM technology let it explore the entire floor of your home, keeping an eye on the areas it's been to and what rooms it's yet to clean.
Its low profile makes it easier to reach under furniture and other items where dust, pet hair, and dirt are often hidden. Unlike many robot vacuums, it can also sweep up dirt in corners and along edges. It's also simple to plan cleaning sessions from any location, using the iRobot app or your voice with Alexa and Google Assistant.
The iRobot Roomba 985 is powered by lithium-ion batteries that are of the top quality. They charge faster and last for longer than other brands. The latest iRobot robot offers the
best robot vacuum lidar obstacle avoidance of any Roomba we've tested, thanks to its front-facing camera and laser sensor. This allows it to avoid pet feces and wires much better than other robotic vacuums that we've reviewed, like the EcovacsN8Pro, Roborock S6MaxV and many others.
It's also the most powerful vacuum, capable of taking on messes with deeper debris and hairy pet hair that is larger, unlike other mid-range models like the Roomba 960. This is due to the cleaner's larger counter-rotating brushes, as well as a stronger motor with more suction power.
The Roomba 995 is also iRobot's most affordable vacuum that has recharge and resume features, but it doesn't come with the auto-empty system that both the I6+ and I7 offer. It doesn't have the iAdapt navigation 2.0 and the camera utilized by the I7 to identify objects and avoid obstacles. This means that it won't be able to save maps or use within-app features such as no-go zones.
The iRobot does not have mopping capability. Although this might not be an issue if you only need a top vacuum, it's an enormous disadvantage for anyone looking to purchase the hybrid robot.

It's capable of removing dirt embedded in the soil.
